Joke of the Week

A man is distraught sitting on the sidewalk head in his hands.

A friend walks up and asks him if everything is ok.

The man says "My wife said if I play in the chess tournament on Saturday she will divorce me, take the house and kids..."

"Well what are you going to do?!"

"1.e4 as always"

💡Puzzle #21

How can White win a lot of material in this position?

✅Solution

This was a very tricky puzzle, but White can capitalize by first sacrificing the bishop by taking with Bxe6. Black is forced to take with the knight as to protect the King with Nxe6. White then takes the bishop with Rxc6, and Black takes back. White then takes the knight and now evens the position, coming from a position of disadvantage.

♟️Tip of the Week

Improving your position may take a long sequence of moves and may not be accomplished immediately. Therefore, calculate thoroughly to try and find how to improve your position.
